Green Earth has many opportunities throughout the year for anyone interested in lending a helping hand. We often have trail improvement or habitat restoration workdays planned - check the Events Calendar for upcoming workdays if you wish to participate in one of these.
However, many projects are conceived and implemented by Green Earth supporters, so don't let yourself be limited by what is on the Events Calendar. If you have a trail improvement project in mind, or you are anxious to remove an invasive species encroaching along your favorite trail - just let us know. We'll be happy to help in any way we can, from rounding up other volunteers to providing logistical help and tools. Many workdays throughout the year happen because Green Earth supporters saw something they felt needed attention.
Green Earth started the Adopt-A-Trail program in 2006, and it has been a great success. Trail adopters are responsible for walking the trails once a month to pick up trash, restock trail guides, and report any problems. Many of our trail adopters go far above and beyond their required tasks and take on invasive species removal, trail upgrades, and habitat improvement projects.
Currently all the developed trail are adopted, however, the Pyles Fork Preserve will have trails up for adoption at some point later in 2010. Green Earth is still far from opening any trials on this site, but if you would like to help us reach that point, check the Events Calendar for upcoming debris removal and trail building workdays.
