Oakland Nature Preserve

This property is the second preserve acquired by Green Earth.  It is located on North Oakland Avenue, near the Oakland Cemetery. The parking area is north of Owens and south of Ready Mix Road, on the east side of Oakland.  This 20 acre preserve contains two trails, both at a low level of difficulty.

The Stan Harris Trail (named after one of the founding Green Earth board members and the driving force behind the small prairie) is located south of the railroad tracks that bisect this property. This trail loop is approximately 1.0 mile in length and winds through woodland and prairie habitats.
Trail Adopter:  currently available for adoption

The Woodland Trail is located on the north side of the railroad  tracks that bisects this property. This portion of the site is entirely wooded and contains a trail loop approximately 1.0 mile in length.
Trail Adopter: NeuroRestorative

The Rothrock Prairie is a small native tall grass prairie that was established along the south side of the railroad tracks.  Robert and Rhonda Rothrock have spent considerable time maintaining the prairie habitat over the last five years by spending countless hours fighting invading plants and reseeding the prairie with seeds from their own stock.
